We are Sydenham Scrap Metals, an established company of scrap metal merchants for the whole of the South East London area. We pay competitive prices for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal, either by collection or by delivery to our yard on Burnham Way. Our personnel screen and process metals onsite and, wherever possible, recycle them for use in the secondary production system. This reduces the amount of material sent to landfill.
Sydenham Scrap Metals currently has recycling rates in excess of 90%.
Our company has a comprehensive range of payment options and always monitors current market rates to ensure you receive the best possible value from your consignments. To ensure fairness for customers and clients, our yard in Sydenham has digital weighing facilities which we regularly calibrate for accuracy. Our scrap metal merchants treat you with honesty, integrity and respect, and never pay less than what your material is worth.
Because we operate out of Sydenham, our company can collect from Anerley, Bromley, Catford, Dulwich, East Dulwich, Forest Hill, Norwood and all surrounding locations. If required, we can leave roll-on/roll-off containers onsite, and return to collect them once full. Our scrap metal merchants always leave new containers after collecting full ones.
Payment options from Sydenham Scrap Metals include:
Because of changes in legislation, we no longer pay in cash for scrap metal. You will need to provide us with photographic ID such as a current driving licence or a passport.
Some scrap metal merchants in Sydenham and South East London only collect ferrous metal because they don’t have the sorting facilities to process non-ferrous material. Our company accepts both, but we do recommend that you sort them into different containers ahead of collection or separate them for easy identification if you bring them to our yard personally. This helps us to deal with you sooner, and helps you to receive a faster payment from us.
Typical examples of ferrous scrap metal include cast iron and wrought iron. There are also some steel types, carbon steel and stainless steel in particular, that fall into the ferrous metal category even though they are alloy materials. Ferrous scrap metal is more tensile, has a higher melting point, shapes easily and is a good conductor of heat and electricity.
It is easy to identify ferrous material by the fact it is magnetic.
Typical examples of non-ferrous scrap metal include aluminium, brass, copper, lead, nickel and zinc. Each material is markedly different from the next and has a wider range of production applications. The scrap metal merchants at our yard in Sydenham identify non-ferrous metal through it being non-magnetic (principally because it has no iron content).
If a magnet doesn’t stick to a metal, it falls into the non-ferrous category.
If you have a consignment of scrap metal, anywhere in Sydenham or in the surrounding Anerley, Bromley, Catford, Dulwich, East Dulwich, Forest Hill and Norwood areas, please call us on 020 8778 9775 to arrange a prompt collection. Alternatively, bring your material to our Burnham Way yard and let our scrap metal merchants weigh your consignment onsite.
